Dr Jonathan Chua is a colorectal and general surgeon based in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. He completed his undergraduate medical degree in 2008 (University of Melbourne), and obtained his Fellowship in General Surgery with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in 2017. Jonathan underwent four further years of subspecialty training in the field of Colorectal surgery, firstly as the Colorectal Surgery Research Fellow at Box Hill Hospital, Melbourne between 2017 and 2019, followed by a clinical fellowship year in minimally invasive colorectal surgery in Colchester, United Kingdom, and a year of robotic colorectal surgery training at Changi General Hospital, Singapore.
Jonathan is a provisional member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ), and holds public appointments in Colorectal and General Surgery at Eastern Health, Melbourne. He is also a re-certified endoscopist (colonoscopy) with the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA).
Jonathan is a member of the RACS surgical skills (ASSET) teaching faculty, and is an article reviewer for the ANZ Journal of Surgery and Heliyon. He is the current supervisor for pre-SET surgical registrars at Angliss Hospital, and will take up an additional role as supervisor of training at Blackburn Public Surgical Centre (Eastern Health) in 2026.
